The Purpose of the Project is to replace the Traction Power Equipment and Building Systems in order to return the facility back to a state of good repair. The capacity of the Ashmont TPSS will be expanded to meet the additional power requirements of the expanded Codman Yard and the upgrade Mattapan High Speed Line.

The project scope of the Ashmont TPSS Replacement Project will include a phased full replacement of the traction power electrical equipment as well selected replacement and upgrades of the building structure (roof, masonry) and internal building systems including heating, ventilation, low voltage electrical, plumbing and safety systems. This substation will remain in service during the phased replacement. It is imperative that the service of the substation not be interrupted as it is the power source for the Mattapan Trolleys and Codman Yard.
